About the Program:

This program is recognized as a Yoga Alliance 200-hour yoga teacher training school. Upon completion, you’ll be qualified to register as a certified yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance. This program is also catered toward students who may not be interested in teaching, but would like to understand more about the practice for themselves. Therefore, a great deal of my training emphasizes yoga education and personal practice.

I recognize that every person has a natural path and approach to yoga, so it’s important to me that I offer a variety of approaches to the practice. Emphasis is placed on breath, physical and subtle body alignment, meditation, modifications, learning to listen to your body, and understanding how yoga can impact the rest of your life.

The following is a brief list of course objectives. Please note that this list is not exhaustive, and is subject to change based on the needs of the students. I will, however, do my best to offer a well-rounded and thorough representation of yoga based on the amount of time we have together. Keep in mind that the subject of yoga is centuries old and layers deep. Your education is never-ending and it should be recognized that this is only the beginning. That being said, have fun, enjoy, and give yourself plenty of time to process what you can.

Course Objectives:

  • Enhance present moment awareness through practice, self-study and introspection
  • Deepen your understanding of Self: physically, mentally, emotionally, and energetically
  • Deepen your understanding of the relationship you maintain with your environment and cultural upbringing and how they affect your present situation
  • Develop a safe and effective personal practice
  • Develop a knowledge of yoga history and philosophy
  • Introduce yoga anatomy, physiology and kinesiology
  • Research and increase pose knowledge and alignment
  • Develop an understanding of Vinyasa and proper technique
  • Introduction of breathwork and basic pranayama techniques
  • Learn how to read and understand yoga textbooks
  • Increase your efficacy and skill as a teacher
  • Develop and fine tune verbal and manual adjustments
  • Learn how to offer effective demonstrations
  • Understand the ethical aspects of teaching

Cost:

$2000 if paid in full.

$2200 if making payments. (Payments may be made throughout the course of the training–contact me for more details).

***Please note: the training is non-refundable after the first week of class. If something comes up that requires that you may no longer attend, you are welcome to join me for a future training.

About Me:

My training in human movement began in the year 2000 with study in the Stott Pilates Method. I became certified to teach Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced Matwork as well as Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Reformer. Additionally, I studied Injuries, Special Populations and Therapeutics through the Stott Pilates Method. In 2003, I discovered Yoga and began my studies in the Iyengar Method. I transitioned to the study of Anusara Yoga in 2004, and became certified to teach in 2006. Since that time, I have completed two advanced Yoga Teacher Trainings, Therapeutics, Restorative Yoga and numerous workshops and small training modules. I have taught well over 2000 classroom hours, created and taught 7 yoga teacher training programs as well as co-founded the Yoga Studies Minor and Teacher Training Program at Utah State University, where I am currently Director of Yoga Studies and teaching as a faculty member. I received a fellowship to study yoga as a graduate student at USU where I am currently in my second year working with Dr. Ravi Gupta.
